Greetings all,
Good feedback from the last edition so I will continue to try and keep you all informed as to what is happening in our area.
How many members know the origin of their Shellholes names? It would be appreciated if each Shellhole could let me know their name origin and I will endeavour to get this information on the Moth Website (There a few but only one from Cape Western and one from Cape Midlands) The same applies to Mothwa’s but there is no information on the website.
On the subject of dress in the last issue, do you know that the tin hat on the left lapel is to be displayed "dominant’ (no other badge/emblem to be placed above it. A Sergeant Major (who shall remain nameless) was recently fined for displaying his regimental emblem above the tin hat. When attending memorial parades, the only adornment on your lapels should be the Tin Hat and Moth Award badges with the poppy on the left lapel and your name tag on the right lapel – no other badges.
Forthcoming events in our area are as follows. Let us support all Shellholes in their endeavours to provide some entertainment for all members of the Order and their friends
April
Saturday 4th ~ Red Barn/TOTS will be holding a fund-raising fete starting at 08h30.
Sunday 5th ~ Blaauwberg/CUCA will be organising a car rally. Registration at 08h00 in Shellhole. Rally will be approx 75km. No time trial just quiz questions. Entrance fee is R50.00 per car of 4
Sunday 19th ~ Dawn Patrol will be holding a car rally.
Monday 27th ~ Battledress will be holding a Champagne Breakfast
May
Sunday 10th ~ Red Barn/TOTS will be holding a Champagne Brunch. Cost R40 per head. Time 11h00 for 12h00 (Contact Ellie at 021-7051346 to book)
Sunday 17th ~ Mothwa 25th Thanksgiving Church Service at St Francis Church Simons Town. 09h00 for 09h30. Please parade your Shellhole Standard. Please contact Carole Parish on 021-7822504 to confirm your attendance.
Sunday 24th ~ Blaauwberg/CUCA in conjunction with Regiment Westelike Provinsie will be organising a parade in Riebeeck West to celebrate Jan Smuts Remembrance Day. More details later. Possibility of arranging a bus being investigated.
June
Saturday 6th ~ Battledress will be celebrating the anniversary of the D-Day landings
Saturday 20th ~ Dawn Patrol will be having a medieval evening
July
Friday 3rd ~ Dawn Patrol will be hosting the Durban July draw
Sunday 5th ~ Mothwa AGM at Red Barn Hall. 09h30 for 10h00. Please confirm attendance to Carole Parish (021-7822504) for catering purposes
Saturday 18th ~ Red Barn/TOTS will be holding their annual concert. Still looking for 2 more acts (contact Ellie at 021-7051346)
Sunday 19th ~ Dellville Wood Parade, Gardens Cape Town 10h30 for 11h00
Saturday 25th ~ Blaauwberg/CUCA will host a Christmas in July. Cost is R120.00 per person. Contact Shellhole for more details.
August
Sunday 9th ~ First AGM of new Dugout at Crusader/Commando Shellhole in Sea Point (Just past the Police Station on the Western side of Green Point Common) Time 09h30 for 10h00
September
Sunday 13th ~ Battle of Britain Service, Dockyard Church Simons Town. More details later.
