Just to let you all know that Moth Trevor Lotter's grandson Warren while on active service was killed in Iraq, being a scholar and resident of

Mossel Bay was serving in the 3rd Battalions 7th Field Artillary. This was big news and front page in our local Mossel Bay Advertiser on 9th January

after the very moving memorial service on the 6th January attended by top U S Military Attache.

Moth Trevor telephoned me and telling about how the U S government took the whole family to be issued with passports and travel visas, plane

tickets to Washington, transport, hotel accommodation and on to Arlington Cemetry for a full military funeral at the Heros Acre. No expense was spared for the family of some 15 members.

LETTER FROM TREVOR.

am travelling to Washington DC to attend my grandson's funeral at Arlington Cemetary on Thursday 15th. Warren is Barry's youngest son who was serving with the US army in Iraq.

On 31 December, he was part of a protection detail tasked to escort Iraqi civillian parties to a meeting. Whilst guarding this group, a radical Muslim terrorists sniper took him out with a shot to the head. He died of his wound whilst being evacuated to the US military base hospital in Germany.

The US Embassy here in SA have been unbelievably incredible in the care and concern they have shown our family over our loss. Nothing, but nothing has been too much trouble for them. The US Consul General Alberta Mayberry, Col. Kelly M Langdorf Military Attache' to the US Embassy and his wife, two Lt. Cols. and two Master Sergeants represented the US Government at, what the Press described as, the most moving (semi military) memorial service ever witnessed in Mossel Bay.

Remembrance Day was Celebrated on Sunday the 9th November 2008.

This past Sunday was a very special day for the residences of Mossel Bay, not only was it a beauitiful and sunny
day at the Point Cenetoph but the messages from the Mayor Alderlady Marie Ferreira and Reverend Peter Holden
of the Searle Memorial Church who both delivered very inspirational messages of encouragement to the more than
120 members that attended this years Commemoration Service.

The Mossel Bay MOTHs of "Blaize Away Shellhole" would like to express their appreciation to all those persons who
attended and contrabuted towards the success of the Remembrance Day Parade also those who gave willingly and
allowed us access to their premises for the "Poppy Day" collection on behalf of the South African Legion.
