Sunset Call: Moth Cyril Shield, Past Provincial Old Bill, Cape Western Provincial Dugout 29 May 2019

Moth General Headquarters, Cape Western Provincial Dugout and Tommy Rendle VC Shellhole regret to announce the passing to Higher Service of Moth Cyril Shield on 29th May 2019.
Moth Shield originally joined the Order for a very short period during 1946 at the now defunct Desert Shellhole in Camps Bay. At the request of his late mother, he resigned his membership and only rejoined the Order during 1976 at Crusader Shellhole in Seapoint. At that Shellhole he served for more than 40 years as the Adjutant and also served on the Provincial Executive for an extended period, including that of Provincial Old Bill. For his contribution to the Order and his Comrades, Moth Shield was awarded the Certificate of Merit in October 2004.
He was still actively involved in the administrative affairs of Crusader/Commando Shellhole when the decision was taken to close as at June 2018. At his request, most of the Memorabilia was transferred to Tommy Rendle VC and this included his own membership.
A dedicated, diligent and staunch member of the Order, Moth Shield will be missed by all who knew him

We Will Remember him
