Moth General Headquarters, the National Executive and Eastern Cape Provincial Dugout regret to announce the passing to Higher Service of Moth James Stoffberg on 21st December 2019.
Moth Stoffberg joined the Order at the now-defunct Four Square Shellhole in Port Elizabeth in April 1977 – he being one of the original “Border Boys” – and served in various posts, including that of Old Bill between 1982 and 1986. He served as District Old Bill from 1986 to 1988 and as Provincial Old Bill between 1991 and 1994. Moth James served on the National Executive between 1999 and 2016, only retiring due to health reasons.
Moth James was always involved in MOTH work to assist the Order in whatever manner possible, including the MESCA Port Elizabeth branch and as Mentor to Southern KwaZulu Natal Provincial Dugout. On numerous occasions the Order called on James for assistance and guidance and, with his vast wealth of experience, he never failed the MOTH.
Moth Stoffberg was awarded the Certificate of Merit in 2007 and was warmly welcomed as Old Bill of the Order for the year 2017/2018.
At the Going Down of the Sun And in the Morning
